FILE Labo has a new partner: the Software Studies Initiative. Located at San Diego, California, this research institution intends to play a key role in establishing the field of Software Studies. Through workshops, publications, and lectures conducted at UCSD and disseminated via the web and in hard copy publications, the group disseminates the broad vision of software studies.
The partnership will have a special opening in August, during the FILE Symposium at Sao Paulo. Monthly meetings and lectures will be part of the joined schedule. Plus, two research projects will take place at Labo, one about the Open Source movement in Brazil and the other one about the impact of Creative Commons project in the Brazilian culture.
